The Federal Election Implementation Team (FEIT) welcomes the results of the Upper-House Election that took place on Thursday 12 August 2021 in Dhusamareeb, the capital city of the Galmudug State of Somalia.
The Names of the Elected Senators are
- Sa’ed Siyad Shirwac
- Yusuf Gelle Ugas
- Abdi Ahmed Duhulow
- Samsam Dahir Mohamud
- Abdihaken Mo’allin Ahmed
- Duniyo Mohamed Ali
At the end of the election, the chairman of the Federal Election Implementation Team (FEIT), Mr. Mohamed Hassan Irro has expressed his feeling towards the election process “Our Electoral Committees both Federal and State Levels are ready to performing the national responsibility that we took. We wish that, the election is contested, rather than concessions, but we welcome how it happened where six senators were elected for the Upper-House including two Women, which makes the women quota in the Galmudug Upper-House election up to 33%. This is commendable step, and I commend the leadership of the Galmudug State of Somalia how they respected the women quota in the Upper-House”
The committee commends how Galmudug administration and the entire Galmudug community enabled to take place the election in a peaceful manner.
In conclusion, the chairman of the committee Mr. Cirro stressed to speeding-up the elections of the two houses of the federal parliament in order to meet-up the different election agreements which stressed the importance of holding the election on time.
